There are a number of ways of creating a channel to fit the glass panels into. There can be a purpose made channel in the concrete, preferably formed when concrete is poured, or it can be cut out. Alternatively a preformed channel can be fitted to the top of the slab or flooring. If fixing into timber flooring, sufficient strength needs to be built into the substrate to ensure adequate fixing of the cHannel is possible. The glass used for these types of balustrades is usually fairly thick to meet compliance as a cantilevered balustrade
